About Cubby House Stay

In September 2022 we changed our name from the Artists Retreat to Cubby House Stay.
So, if both names are coming up rest assured it is still us!

We are a convenient scenic 8 minute drive from towns attractions, shops, ammenities so have the best of town and small farm life.
Now to get our views and offer what we have please understand you need to be out of town - again it's still only a quick drive to/from town..
If you want a town stay book a town stay!

On our own small hill with stunning elevated views overlooking the sea, township, mountain and farmlands.

We are offering a unique house that is equipped with all home comforts to make your travelling easier and we are sure you will agree that once you stay this will be memorable and one of your favourite stays you have had.

UPSTAIRS:
This is an open plan loft/studio style with the equipped kitchen, small sitting area, king bed and balcony to take in the views.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the cooking equipment & utensils you will need.
We have plenty of pots, pans, platters, serving utensils, sharp knives, electric cooktop with 4 burner hob griller and oven. We also keep the fridge and pantry very well stocked with cereals, milk, bacon, bread, biscuits, and lots of condiments etc etc - the freezer is full so can eat in if decide to just stay here relax and take it all in.

DOWNSTAIRS:
Lounge room, TV, Games, Chess table, 1 bedroom with queen bed, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and a cot
Bathroom: toilet, basin, shower/small bath is combined with all toiletries and towels.
Laundry area with washing machine & dryer, all cleaning products, iron & portable clothes line and also an outside clothes rack.

You have your own private entrance and carpark area at the opposite the pathway to your house.
We provide clean laundered linen from the hire company and freshly washed towels and also supply shampoo, soap, hairdryer and some other bathroom items.

We haven't listed everything, just be assured we will be one of your favourite home away from homes and you will be glad you decided to stay. Just make sure you book us long enough,

Cubby House Stay Features

We have stunning views of the ocean, township, mountains (snow capped in winter) and a few friendly farm animals with their own friendly personalitlies that you will be able to pat and feed. There is plenty to do in Kaikoura and the surrounding area or just hang around here and relax!

There is lots to do in Kaikoura and around the surrounding area,
whale watch, dolphin encounter, kayak with seals = pedal or paddle, walking treks,, museum, biking, skiing (90min away in winter), scuba diving, learn to dive, deep sea fishing, kayaking, rafting, surfing, scenic plane or helicopter flights, quad bikes, Maori tours, hunting, horse treks, escape room, mini golf, 18 hole golf course, 9 hole golf course a couple minutes away, wine/beer tasting, shopping, cafes, pubs to name a few.

Terms & Conditions

The Cubby House Stay is NON smoking premises - if you must please do let us know!
Although we clean after you depart we ask you to respect the Cubby House and us by leaving it as you found it = clean & tidy.
All we ask to be done is:
1. Please just rinse first then pop the dishes, cutlery, pots etc in the dishwasher.
2. Please DON'T make the beds! You're on holidays!!
3. Just pop the used towels in the basket in the bathroom.
That's it - who wants to do extra stuff.

If you happen to break or damage something please tell us... we certainly know accidents do happen and we would simply replace it so our next guests don't miss out.
We have stocked the shelf and freezer with some food items to help you out - if you want to use them plus we ask that you pay it forward so the next guest can enjoy it too.

NOTE: The base tariff is for 1 person or a couple.
If you have more than 2 people in the retreat each additional person staying pays $40 per night REGARDLESS OF AGE (0-99) as we don't age discriminate here! :-)

The cot will be made and we do also have port-a-cot and high chair available if needing them.
If you require anything else whilst here - please let us know - we are here to help make your stay as comfortable as possible!

SORRY, we aren't a party kind of place so NO PARTYS as it freaks our animals out plus you will be liable for extra cleaning and any damage..

By staying at our property you agree to the above and agree to leave the property and accommodation house as you found it (all clean and tidy) and that you agree you will relax whilst here!
