Comfy Rustic with Kitchen!
Review by M & J on 3/8/10 12:39 PM
We celebrated our engagement in Austin but I enjoyed the natural small town of Hill Country. The Cottage had vaulted ceilings and the hot tub was actually fairly private due to the location of the trees (the red cabin). We saved money by cooking gourmet meals between trips for empanadas and ribs in Austin. Blue Hole is a quiet spot in the off season and is one minute from downtown Wimberley. The shopping in Wimberley is nice with small locally owned stores and we bought out wedding rings at the The Silver Queen from the Campuzanos, meeting both husband and wife (firstname.lastname@example.org). They even brushed our shiny silver rings to 'matte' for us and were very nice about mailing them. The cabin had a modern cottage style and the bed really was a luxurious king memory foam mattress with a light feeling warm duvet and a beautiful cranberry red coverlette. John really enjoyed the extra pillows and of course I couldn't get enough of the hot tub and the peace and quiet. We don't own a tv so we enjoyed watching some cable movies at night while cuddling on the couch. It insipired us in terms of what we've been looking for to build an affordable country home actually. The fans can be used to push the heat down more but we were comfy even in February. You can control your own heat/air too. This place is private and wonderfully located for a 20 to 30 min. drive to Austin. I recommend The Salt Lick in the original driftwood location (cash only, expect a wait or get to go and eat outside) while enjoying the live outside music. They responded quickly to one of our concerns/itchy after tub and immediately balanced the PH. It was lovely and I am itching to go back within a year or two or asap! When there is a full moon you don't even need any of the deck lights on...and there are beautiful French doors that lead from the bedroom/living room (it is a sort of studio cabin). There were even some surprise welcoming touches.
Relaxing and Quiet

My husband and I stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. It was wonderful. When we arrived Jerry greeted us. When we walked into the cabin it was very cozy and the fireplace was on. It was the small touches that impressed us, from the bottle of wine to the snacks. Since we were traveling with our dog, there was a doggie bed, treats and toy set up for our dog. (There are not many places out there that accepts pets, so this was the one of the reasons we stayed here.) We throughly enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We came for quiet and relaxation and this cabin offered us that luxury. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was very nice.

The cottages were very impressive and the staff was extremely helpful. The check in was effortless and quick. The cottage were well stocked and had plenty of privacy. The rooms were cozy, clean, and well maintained. The deck was furnished with a private hot tub. I couldn't ask for any more. It was a perfect place to getaway and relax. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Wimberley.

We don't normally take the time to do this, but now and then my wife and I have to give credit where credit is due. We had our second visit to Cypress Creek Cottages this past January. While I had no problem with the rustic character of the older cabin we stayed at last time, the newly renovated cabin we got this time around was unexpectedly gorgeous. My family and I were very comfortable, everything we needed was right there. The loft for the kids really made it a relaxing stay. We thought the beds were more comfortable than at any hotel we've stayed at, anywhere. And the flat screen TVs are a nice touch. Even the furnishings and art are very tastefully done. WiFi really makes it nice for those who need to stay connected. Clearly, the owners care about their customers and go out of their way to make sure guests have a pleasurable experience. And everything is shiny and clean as a whistle. We had to pinch ourselves; we felt like we were in a luxury hotel instead of a cabin in the woods. We stayed an extra two days! This is without a doubt the best place to stay in and around Wimberley, hands down. As for Wimberley, coming from California I am surprised there aren't more bike and walking paths. There should be a pedestrian crossing signal in the down town; too much traffic barreling through there, and Texans don't stop for pedestrians like we do in California. City Planners ought to consider a bike and/or walking path set back from the roadway, one wide enough to accommodate golf carts and segways. It would be great if folks staying at the cabins along the creek could walk or bike into town. Right now without a path or sidewalk it is hard to walk to town, even though downtown is barely a half mile away. We would have enjoyed it so much more if we could have walked into town, rather than drive. If Wimberley is serious about becoming a "destination", they need to provide for us folks who like to hike and bike around. Maybe they can get some of that Stimulus Money and build a nice bike path.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Cypress Creek Cottages. The location feels like it's secluded in the beautiful surroundings of the country, yet incredibly close to Wimberley's town square. The cottages offer nice amenities (free wi-fi, fine linens, private hot tubs, etc.) I will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Wimberley. Next time I will have to bring my pets since the Cypress Creek Cottages are very accommodating of animals.
Loved our stay

We stayed at the cottages for a long weekend and brought our dog along. The staff left a welcome note for us and some yummy candies, but it was our dog that really got the red carpet treatment. A pet bed, bowls and waste bags were provided, plus there were dog treats and a complimentary toy. Our stay was very comfortable; the cabins clean, quiet and well stocked; and the location felt secluded but was really very close to downtown. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay.
